Because zippers and velcro just don't work.
I find buttons are the best when they serve both an aesthetic and functional purpose in their clothing. Sewing them randomly, without a real purpose except to ornament, generally looks a bad DIY you find online. When used correctly, buttons make a piece unabashedly whimsical and charming. These beautiful haute couture works just wouldn't be the same without their help.
